Some days remind you why the ocean is such a captivating and wild place, and my recent outing with Rob Arrington and his crew during Florida’s mini lobster season was exactly that—a day filled with excitement, appreciation, and the thrill of the catch.

A Smooth Start to a Wild Adventure

Our day began early, with the sun just peeking over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the water. We boarded Rob’s Insetta and headed out to his favorite spots. The morning was beautiful, and the conditions were perfect as we cruised out with ease, thanks to the reliable Suzuki outboards that powered us through the waters.

High Energy and Impressive Catches

From the moment we met up, Rob’s energy was infectious. It didn't take long before we started pulling up our first catches. Rob and his brother took the dive, equipped with scuba tanks, targeting the elusive "big bugs"—the local term for the spiny lobsters that are quite different from the big clawed lobsters I was used to seeing in the New England area. The lobsters here looked like something straight out of Jurassic Park, wild and ancient.

Diving Deep Amidst the Sharks

Safety was paramount, especially with curious sharks making an occasional appearance, drawn by our activity. The waters teemed with life, and although one of our catches showed evidence of a shark’s clean bite, Rob and his team's expert diving and handling ensured that everyone stayed safe while pulling up lobsters and invasive lionfish. On the boat, we managed to hook some impressive groupers and cobia, releasing those not in season, and respecting the rules that keep our marine life thriving.

A Culinary Finale and Community Gathering

After a successful day on the water, the adventure didn’t end there. Back on shore, Rob had arranged a meet-up with fans. The local chef prepared a feast by cooking the day's fresh catch. It was a fantastic scene, watching children, families, and fans from all walks of life come together, brought together by Rob’s magnetic pull and shared passion for the sea.

Reflecting on the Day

This trip was more than just a day out fishing; it was a vivid showcase for me of how Suzuki outboards facilitate remarkable adventures and create lasting memories. Reliable and efficient, these motors are not just tools; they are gateways to freedom on the water.

Being part of this experience, stepping into Rob’s world, was an absolute privilege. It’s trips like these that remind us of the beauty of our oceans and the importance of experiencing and preserving these waters with respect and enthusiasm.

The sheer diversity of marine life we encountered was beyond anything I had expected—especially the fish with teeth! Every moment was a reminder of how much more there is to discover in these waters. Each unique spot and micro-community within nature fuels my motivation to explore and learn more about the hidden wonders of the ocean.
